Montreal, Nov. 29, 2009 – The Montreal Alouettes have won the 97th Grey Cup, defeating the Saskatchewan Roughriders 28-27 in front of 46,020 fans at Calgary’s McMahon Stadium. This marks the sixth Grey Cup title in franchise history (1949, 1970, 1974, 1977, 2002, 2009).
Parade
To thank fans for their support, the Alouettes will share their championship with them this Wednesday, Dec. 2 in a parade down Montreal’s rue Ste-Catherine from Crescent to the new Place des Festivals on rue Jeanne-Mance in front of la Place des Arts. The Alouettes will first be invited to City Hall at 9 a.m. to sign the city register before the parade begins at 11:40 a.m.
The parade will start at the corner of Crescent and Ste-Catherine, moving down the city’s main thoroughfare until it reaches the brand new Place des Festivals on rue Jeanne-Mance. To conclude the event, the Alouettes’ cheerleaders will perform a routine followed by a player presentation with the Grey Cup on an outdoor stage.
